Very quiet, generally about 10 degrees cooler than my
previous CM HSF, which had a 90mm/2000rpm fan. In my system, the rpm varies from about 990 to 1200, with the temps at about 31C. This is in my budget DAW, on a Pentium Dual E2200. When working with projects, temps run about 35 or so, but have never hit 40C. I even tried an OC up to 3 ghz (E2200s are known for their OC ability) and the temp remained low, although the fan speeded up a little, but still under 2000RPM. I'll just say here that they've replaced the rather "squirrelly" wire clip fan mounts with brackets that mount to the fan w/screws, and just snap on with a click.
There's an extra pair included for a 2nd fan.
Check the CM site and watch the video, although it showed the wire clips instead of the new brackets. You need a tower that's fairly wide. Mine is a CM Cavalier 3, which is 202mm, or 7.95 inches, there's about a 5 to 7mm clearance from the tips of the cooler to the side panel. I had to remove the air funnel of course. If you have side fans, you'd want to check for possible interference. I was wary of my northbridge HS which is very close to my CPU slot (on a G-byte GA-31M-S2L, mATX LGA 775) the (continued...)

Cheap and good cooling performance, easy to install, and nice looking. The best part with this cooler is that you can put two fans onto it to really cool CPU down. I used it for AMD phenom II x6 1055t and I oc'ed to 4.0 Ghz with vcore raised to 1.525v while temp is below 54C during load. I think that's really good value when shipping is free and discount is applied.
The plate that contacts with cpu is not really centered to CPU. A bit off that makes you wonder if you install it correctly.
Big cooler and make sure you have a large case.
I have been keeping track of pricing of computer components on nine different sites and found they all maintained the same, or nearly the same pricing (MSRP). Then, I came across Super Biiz one day an... (more)
