If you like to take your digital camera on trips and don't like hauling the laptop around, get yourself a bigger SD card.
I've got a Nikon D50, and recently did photos for a local school. With the large SD card, you can do the pictures for the entire school, and stored the pictures all on the card.
The nice thing about SD is they work in your camera, your PDA, and many of the manufacturers are including readers in their laptops and desktops (HP and Compaq)

But for the money, you cannot beat this deal. 2gb of storage for under $15 bucks. Totally insane. Very affordable for any budget.
