| The Good:
If I ever, EVER, had to buy one bad*** chip for a PC I sure as heck would buy this one, my CPU speed is way through the roof, the CPU usage says it runs at 20%-40% while surfing and doing regular stuff and the temperature stays low, I am running a Thermaltake Max Orb fan on it, not the one they included in the pack, but the chip runs so cool it amazing! I love stickers, really I do, it came with one AMD sticker sadly. The chip shows really good performance and it rarely ever pauses for anything, it does what it says it would. My CPU cooler keeps it at 24C-28C which is really great, so the chip will have a long life. |
| The Squirrelly:
Cost is just a slight bit too high, that is the market really, it could be about $10-$20 cheaper, the chip runs good not as hot as market specs say it would, but the deal here is if you use the cheap fan they sent along with it that may be why it runs at 60C.
Wish they had included more stickers in the box I could use like 3 AMD Phenom stickers on my case. |
| Pro Tip:
I used Artic Silver and a Thermaltake Max Orb, AMD Phenom 955, 500GB HDD, HIS ATI Radeon 4890, 8GB RAM, Windows 7, Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P, This is my dream computer and it is great and I am so happy the items I bought here were so cheap. |

| The Good:
The Phenom series was well ahead of it's time. if you're ever in the market for a quad core and on a budget, grab one of these babies and you will be good to go! I can tell you that the processing capabilities on this chip are very impressive! the most recent game I've played to date would be Far Cry 3 and Bioshock Infinite, and they work almost flawlessly with my budget gpu(gt 630). If you want to get the most out of a build, pair a radeon GPU with this CPU and you will really be cooking with gas! Protools works fantastically on this thing along with audacity, fruityloops, etc. The entire Adobe catalog runs near perfection with this baby. I'll even go as far as to say between this cpu and the fx 4000 series, stick with the phenom since its a TRUE quaddy. |
| The Squirrelly:
My only real complaint with this cpu is the fan. the coolness of the cpu is mediocre and the fan can be pretty loud(especially @ high speed). Personally, for me, it doesn't phase me because I have my computer/tv hooked up to surround sound, so the humming of the fan gets killed by my speakers. Do yourself a favor and grab a coolermaster EVO 212 for only 25$ and you'll have a cooler, silent cpu :) |
| Pro Tip:
While this cpu came out in the late 00's, time has not slowed this cpu down AT ALL. im very impressed with this chipset, and I hope you will as well :)
PS: there is seriously no need to overclock this thing, but if you are one of those overzealous power freaks that need to take it to the limit and risk burning out your mobo, by all means. I'm on the stock speed and it is incredible :D
