939 is prime Reviewed by LK D from Tulsa, OK on 04/12/06
I compared the 939 version vs the 754 socket. I would spend the couple of bucks and get the 939. You can always get the faster processors but may be locked in with a 754 board.
Very fast processor, excellent peformance, overclocking speeds are good.

Build a high end 939 system on a budget. At this price you can afford to upgrade later on. Great peformance, great price. Small cache isn't a concern at this price level. Still plays all your games very well.

Good starter cpu to upgrade later to faster one using the Socket 939. also a good over clocker cpu . remember to get a good heatsink.

I love the AMD chips. Intel is too expensive. For this chip, reasonable price for the performance. Wish the cache was bigger, but will blaze through work with the 64bit instruction set.
HT FSB speeds of 2000mhz are awesome. Very impressive.
Great Budget CPU Reviewed by LB from yorba linda, CA on 02/09/06
Pick up this great budget CPU while you can. AMD is phasing it out and you'll be hard pressed to find a better value OCing processor. It excells at gaming and will take out any multimedia applications you throw at it. Free shipping from eWiz makes this a no-brainer!
The most affordable entry level 64-bit CPU in the world! Reviewed by Merdy Utan from South San Francisco, CA on 02/09/06
The actual label reads: Advanced Micro Devices Athlon 64 Processor (running close/similar to Intel Pentium 4 with the speed of) 3000Mhz or better at core speed of 1800Mhz Socket 939. That means if this particular chip is to be compared to an Intel chip, the chip must be at or faster than 3000Mhz. Officially, AMD has discontinued this particular chip so get it while you can because once it's gone, it's gone forever (unless you are willing to pay for ridiculous prices).

If you are building a new system, and your on a budget this is a great performing chip.
Decent cache size gives you good performance.
Socket 939 is the new technology that gives you increased throughput and the newer PCI-E video.
You can get a faster processor, but for the price, this is an excellent choice.

great processor Reviewed by Nathan Kegel from Eden Prairie, MN on 02/05/06
Uses less energy than Intel processors and outperforms them on many applications - especially gaming applications. If you want to build a gamin PC, this processor is a great choice. It's also very easy to OC this chip to get even more performance.
Faster than Intel! Reviewed by computersoc from New Hartford, NY on 01/25/06
The benchmarks for this CPU are faster than Intel's comparable CPUs. Lower frequency by AMD is actually faster than an Intel CPU of the same frequency.
