Pretty good processor, but not good enough  Reviewed by Bishop from Sacramento, CA on 08/01/09

I bought this chip a little over 1 year ago from eWiz to replace the stock P4 2.4ghz Celeron that was in my Dell. The chip is a great value for the cost and only dropped $3 in the last 13 months, however, it lacks future technologies, like Intel(R) Virtual Technology. Without this, you can not run the virtual XP Mode in Windows 7. You'll probably have to settle for a dual-boot system if you want to run XP programs and XP-specific peripherals. I have a USB tv tuner that isn't recognized in Windows 7, so I wanted to use the XPM, but I won't be able to that with this CPU chip. This CPU is too slow to run HD video, too. You can view 1080P videos if you turn all your other programs off, but the video will still be choppy at best. I'm using an old Dell that has a PCI (not PCI-e) video card (128mb FX-5300), and 2GB of ram. Perhaps if I was running 3GB and an AGP card with 256mb of memory? But that would be wasting money on this old system. I tried installing Tomb Raider Anniversary and the game play framerate was so incredibly slow. It had to have been around 10 or 12 frames a second. Lara was moving in super slo-mo, not just slow motion. I couldn't even install Leisure Larry Blockoffice Bust. It installed, but wouldn't play because of both the CPU and video card. This is a good chip and I have never had any problems with it, however, it no longer meets my needs. I'll be upgrading to a Quad-Core CPU this month and putting together a whole new PC. Hopefully the Quad can hold up for the next few years to come.

Runs Vista smoothly  Reviewed by Anonymous from Honolulu, HI on 11/22/07

Replaced Celeron D installed in older Intel D865PERL board, took right off with no problems! Runs cool (38C) with copper heat sink with 80mm fan and Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound. Very pleased with purchase and performance. Runs Vista smoothly, earns a solid 4.0 Vista User Experience Rating, Good card for older games.

Decent  Reviewed by Duc from Saint-Laurent, PQ on 11/30/06

Intel processors are known to be reliable and give decent performance when it comes to office tasks. This processor does seem less responsive than my AMD Athlon 64 though. The heat output of this processor is high and energy efficience is not that great.

STABLE STABLE NICE AND CHEAP TOO  Reviewed by DONALD STEIN from PORTERVILLE, CA on 12/06/06

hi all yes they are getting old but they are stable and fast for a cpu granted the 64 bit cpu is in.. but there alot of peaple that still have good p4 pc's that support this cpu and with a good cooler on it not a cheap one they do get hot !!! but if you keep it cool the best you can it will do the job and if your into over clocking they do well there too got my 2.8 ghz upto 3.5 ghz water cooled

Great CPU for the price  Reviewed by CrucialD from Lindenwold, NJ on 11/24/06

Perfect way to add a few more months to an aging Socket 478 system. I was able to OC the CPU to 3.9GHz w/1040MHz FSB at stock voltage. And it runs cooler than my 2.4C@3.2GHz! A truly noticeable performance boost for only $80! Great job Ewiz!

I needed it soon, I got it sooner yet
I needed a CPU on Friday, and I ordered it on Tuesday afternoon. I got it on Thursday. Sure, I paid extra for shipping, but not every retailer processes orders that fast. Thank you!
